There’s no shortage of remarkable ideas, what’s missing is the will to execute them

Our projects
Managing operations in difficult locations is a challenge. CAMBEV gets around this by building good relationships with local stakeholders and striking a balance between daily operations and long-term planning. In this way world class performance is achieved.
Success in manufacturing and supply chain management is achieved through a precise balance of strong operational management at floor level and dynamic strategic planning. In short, CAMBEV subscribes to the maxim: control what is happening today and carefully plan the future.

Lagos Conversion
A truly turnkey and engaging brief completed by the CAMBEV team was the conversion of a dilapidated warehouse into a packaging facility in Lagos, Nigeria.
Over a 6-month period CAMBEV co-ordinated the transformation of the tired building into a manufacturing facility that included a production area, laboratory, and racked warehousing. Offices, a reception area, and ablution facilities were created in line with the demanding standards set by the international company. Local contractors were engaged in the reconstruction process and a mix of local and international companies supplied machinery and equipment. A CAMBEV project manager was stationed in Lagos for the entire duration of this engrossing project. Over and above the normal project management duties, CAMBEV Engineering Solutions also assisted in the compilation of the standard operating procedures, securing local authority approvals, and selecting key staff appointments.

Water Storage
CAMBEV Engineering Solutions relishes out-of-the-ordinary challenges. A beverage project included a call for a water storage facility to provide sufficient water to complete a production run and flush out the production line in the event of a loss in water supply. The result was a 250,000-litre rectangular storage water tank. Below is the tank in the final stages of construction.
Reverse Osmosis
CAMBEV has a sterling “can-do” attitude and seldom turns away a project. Two reverse osmosis water treatment plants, one 500 litre per hour and the other 30,000-litre per hour, are pictured. These were installed at two different beverage facilities in South Africa. The 500-litre plant proved to be a successful solution for a client that struggled with the quality of the local water supply. The response and positive feedback from the client rates as one of the most satisfying ever received by CAMBEV.

Custom-built solar powered mobile ATM
During a general discussion with a senior executive of a major bank in Rwanda, CAMBEV was asked if the team could design and manufacture a purpose-built trailer to house an automatic teller machine (ATM). The client specifically needed the unit to operate off the grid and be able to be move to a different location with the same amount of effort as moving a luggage trailer. The result was a prototype with a three-way option: run off the mains power, run off solar and battery power and run off a generator to recharge the batteries if solar and mains power were not available. Six months after the delivery of the first unit CAMBEV received an order for two more. These were delivered in late 2020 and the client is delighted.
Charcoal Pellet production
The bamboo industry is trending as the world seeks more sustainable fuel sources and CAMBEV Engineering Solutions is proud to have played a part in designing and building a production plant that manufactures “shisha” charcoal tablets. The client emphasized the need for a simple yet automated process that did not need specialist skills for operation and maintenance. The production line is rated at 5,000 tablets per hour and included a Z-arm mixer, a conveying system, a hydraulic press, a drying tunnel, and an inline wrapping machine. The equipment was purpose-built by the CAMBEV team. Mixing the product is a batch process with the output designed to ensure continuous operation of the press. The press is designed to allow for varied tablet size.

Supplies to Ethiopia
CAMBEV has, as one of the preferred service providers, ably assisted Coca-Cola Ethiopia source equipment and engineering supplies that they are not readily available in that country. The items are sourced in South Africa, moved to a central location, containerised, and shipped to Ethiopia with maximum efficiency and minimum mishap.

Sanitiser units
The Covid-19 pandemic resulted in an unprecedented and urgent need for hand sanitation systems. A client briefed CAMBEV to provide high-end hand sanitation units to be stationed at the entrances to his banks. The brief was clear: the client wanted more than the standard hand and foot units that were readily available. The CAMBEV team custom built units that are automatically activated when hands are placed under the nozzle. Each unit provides 3,000 applications before having to be refilled. Eight units ready for export are pictured below.

Dredging Marina Canals
CAMBEV secured the contract to dredge the tidal canals of an Eastern Cape exclusive Marina. A floating pontoon dredger has a slurry pump that is lowered onto the bed of the canals. This agitates and removes the sediment off the canal bed. Hydraulic jets mounted on the pump aid in the agitation of the sediment. A booster pump connected in series with the slurry pump pumps the water sediment mixture through a pipeline to a dedicated disposal area. Continuous data collection by the team ensures accurate analysis and provides reports of sediment removed and dredger productivity. Drone footage is used to monitor progress and to plan where next to dredge. CAMBEV’s scope of work includes operation, maintenance, planning and reporting. The picture shows the dredger in operation.

Pipework from start to finish
Over the years, CAMBEV Engineering Solutions has gained a solid reputation for being the “go to” company when installing pipe services in the beverage sector. Facilities such as steam, refrigeration and compressed air as well as installing the interconnecting pipework for these systems is all in a project’s work spec. CAMBEV has also supplied processing plants for beverage product systems and is well known for delivering piping and equipment into various locations in Africa with maximum efficiency and minimum mishap.
